Fish of the seas around turkey (12posters) – The fish of the river and lakes in Turkey
Turkey has 7816 kms long shores on the Mediterranean, Aegean, Black and Marmara seas around her, and has a rich undersea life also in her rivers and lakes.
With start of the environmental pollution after 1970s, this undersea fauna has been threatened with big danger. Only 8-10 kinds of fish live in the Marmara Sea today where more than 120 existed in 1940s & 1950s.
Firuz Askin prepared these posters in cooperation with significant Turkish authorities with aim of assisting those interested in sea, river and lake undersea life. These posters, first time appear in colour, were published in 1993 under the sponsorship of Cem Ofset Print House.
With start of the 1st World War, northern Aegean and the Gallipoli Peninsula had become sites of the biggest naval operation the history had ever seen by then. Different sizes of 150 battleships were engaged in that operation. According to the documents and memoirs, 66 of them had made significant reputations with their performances and services.
Sometimes they are displayed in groups of black & white photos taken in their time, as big battleships, in general. These 66 ships now come alive back to their glorious days, in the colourful paintings of Mr. Askin. And with these paintings the artist is happy with giving a chance to the descendants of thousands of sailors who were part of that big historical operation.
